A Collection a Day #26 – Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear

The latest Toy Story movie just opened with huge numbers and its merchandise is clogging all the toy store shelves. There have been quite a few Buzz Lightyear action figures and dolls since the first movie was released, and it’s interesting to me that they are almost all identical except for their size. Because it’s a toy based on a toy, I guess the good folks at Pixar don’t want to dilute the brand and change him up too much.

I was at Target last weekend and saw shelves upon shelves of boxed Buzz Lightyear’s, much like the scene in Toy Story 2 where they visit Al’s Toy Barn, and it just made me laugh to see life imitating art. Or is it the other way around?

I have collected so many different things that I thought it would be fun to try and photograph a collection a day and see how far I can get.
