A Collection a Day #17 – Vintage target shooting games, originally uploaded by Cool and Collected.
These vintage target games are some of my favorite items in my collection. They are big, bright, and colorful (like me).
That Space Target game is two feet tall! The pictures on it are so perfect, depicting the space-themed movies of the 50’s and their evil alien overlords and handsome heroes.
The Wyandotte Shooting Gallery has a key you wind up that sets the circular target spinning while a series of ducks swims by, just waiting to get popped. I have a couple of the rifles used with this one and its original box, which I may show in a future picture. The guns are downright lethal, with a spring action that has enough force to send a barbecue skewer deep into an apple (trust me).
The Dragnet Target has colorful plastic bad guys that spin around when you hit them. The fact that they are so bright and colorful made them easy for Jack Webb to track down.
These target games look great on the shelf alone or as a group, and I highly recommend them as a collectible toy to seek out.
I have collected so many different things that I thought it would be fun to try and photograph a collection a day and see how far I can get.

Hello,
Can you help me find an old toy?
From the 70’s where was a shooting game that I don’t know the
name of.
It was a cowboy about 10″ high with a photo electric eye and when you shot the pistol at it the cowboy would fall down.
Then a little electric motor would retighten the strings or cables and the cowboy would
stand back up to be shot again.
Does this sound like any toy you know of?
Any help would be welcomed.
Thanks Tom

Hmmmm. It doesn’t ring a bell but now I have some homework to do!
