A Collection a Day #16 – Vintage Board Games, originally uploaded by Cool and Collected.
If there is one thing I really miss in this digital age, it’s board games. Sure, they’re out there on store shelves and kids still play Candyland and Mousetrap, but with the allure of video games, gatherings with family and friends have certainly changed.
I love vintage board games with great graphics and lots of small pieces to lose. These games are true works of art and have the tangible quality that video games lack. Sure, a round of Halo is way more fun (and shorter) than a round of Monopoly, but every now and then it’s fun to just roll the dice and move the pieces.
Some of my all time favorite board games are Crossbows and Catapults (is it a board game if it takes up your whole kitchen floor), the Dark Tower, and Voice of the Mummy. I also really enjoy playing games like Settlers of Catan but finding people who enjoy my enthusiasm isn’t easy.
I have collected so many different things that I thought it would be fun to try and photograph a collection a day and see how far I can get.
