Hake’s Americana is having a huge sale with tons of items marked down 25%. While most people are sitting around watching TV, I am usually browsing Hake’s site. It’s a problem I have learned to deal with, but when they have a sale like this, my fingers slowly draw out the credit card. I have determined that I will treat myself to just one item (maybe two) this time around. First, here are a few of things that caught my eye…
“KELLOGG’S CORN FLAKES” SUPERMAN DANGLE-DANDY” Sale Price; $71.25
This vintage mobile would be the perfect addition to my Fortress of Solitude. There can’t be many of these still around.
“LONE RANGER COWBOY SLIPPERS” BOX Sale price: $48.75
The box may be empty but the box graphics are certainly display worthy!
“DICK TRACY BRACES” BOXED SUSPENDERS Sale price: $93.75
This is such a great package, and those suspenders would make anyone feel like a G-Man!
“FLASH GORDON ADVENTURE SET” COLORFORMS LOT W/COLOR PROOFS. Sale price: $75.00
I have a pretty good collection of vintage Colorforms kits, but here’s a chance to own the original printing proofs from the Flash Gordon set. Very tempting!
“THE HOWDY DOODY WONDER BALLOON PARADE” NEAR-COMPLETE BREAD LABEL PICTURE. Sale price: $108.75
I can’t say that I’ve ever been interested in a Howdy Doody item before, but the graphics on this picture are amazing. If I were to buy this, I could see myself searching for that missing Clarabell label until the end of my days.
There can only be one…
Alright internet, I have decided to buy myself an early Christmas present, but I can’t make up my mind. Which of the following two items should I get. Add a comment below and I will defer to the masses.
First choice…
“THE LONE RANGER TARGET GAME.” Sale price: $56.25
I have been looking for one of these Lone Ranger target games to add to my collection for a while now. The opposite side has a vibrant animal scene, and either side would look awesome hanging on the wall with my other vintage target games.
Or, I could get this…
“BATMAN SWOOPS DOWN” TOSS GAME Sale price: $112.50
This is another item that has been on my radar for a while. This game was manufactured by Spears Games and would be an excellent addition to my 1966 Batman collection. Decisions, decisions.
So, what should Santa put under my tree this year — the Tarzan target game or the Batman game? Let me know by leaving a comment below. There are no wrong answers. 😉

Feels odds choosing the Lone Ranger over Batman but that game looks really cool. I say Lone Ranger, honestly it’s a win win here.
Brian says
I agree, it’s a win-win all the way.
Todd says
Batman, I have the James Bond game by Spears, they make a pretty cool game!
deadfred says
Tough call but I have to go with that Lone Ranger game.
Brian says
This is not making my decision any easier. 😉
Kevin says
Lone Ranger, looks cool, so it must be collected.
Nathan says
As cool as the Lone Ranger game is, I have to go with Batman. I love the different illustrations in the box.
Greg says
Either one! But i think the Batman will make you happier! LOL
Hey Brian –
I have been meaning to mention to you that i recently got a couple of the 7-11 King King Plastic cups and the full set of the Glasses from the 1976 movie you had mentioned in Kongtober! Got a REAL steal on Ebay!
Thanks for the heads up on those! they are so cool! I just bought the 1977 Superman the movie set from Pepsi about the ROTJ set from Burger king. I am getting crazy with the old school glasses.
I have seen some very cool King king Vintage King Kong stuff on there recently and most of it has not been to crazy priced.
Brian says
Thanks Greg! I actually placed my order this morning — I can’t say that I was helped too much with my decision though. 😉
Glad to hear about the new additions to your collection. I’ve steered clear of collector glasses for the most part, only because I am fearful of constantly breaking them! Plastic cups don’t shatter when you drop them off the shelf. 😉
John (Batcave Toy Room) says
I love vintage collectible glasses. I can’t be believe I haven’t broken any after all these years. Darn! I probably just jinxed myself.
