Barb Crews, the collectibles expert at About.com recently put me in touch with a nice woman named Anita, who is feeling a little overwhelmed. Anita’s daughter, Maureen, was a Star Wars fan and collector all her life, and had amassed a large Star Wars collection over the years. Unfortunately, Maureen had a disability which made her medical bills pile up and after contracting encephalitis, she recently passed away.
Anita would like to find a new home for her daughter’s collection, and in the process, raise some money to help with the burial expenses. She has asked me to help get the word out about the collection and help find a buyer. She would like to start by selling some vintage figures, which she thinks might have the rare double telescoping light sabers, but she is also interested in selling the entire collection as one big lot.
Here is a small sampling of what’s available…
This is just a small portion of the collection. I have posted many more photos on Flickr here.
Anita lives near Albany, NY and if you are in the New England area and want to get a better look and possibly make an offer, you can contact her at alhtreasures at gmail.com. (Don’t be a sleaze bag and submit a lowball offer. There are some nice items in there, so be fair!)
Please help me in getting the word out about this since Anita would like to sell these items as soon as possible. Thanks.
That is indeed one impressive lot. The shape in which those items are in show the care that was put into this collection. A serious collector needs to see this ASAP. If only I had the money, it would be mine!
Agreed. Stories like this are tough for any collector to hear, because we know our family will probably be in the same place someday. I wish i could help out more. i just want them to get a fair offer.
I actually live 40 minutes from Albany! I’m not a huge Star Wars fan, but wouldn’t mind owning a few of the loose figures. This is kind of sad. I hope someone is able to help out, because I know I couldn’t come close to making a decent offer. Keep us updated Brian.
I will Jason. If you want to make an offer on any of it, go ahead and send Anita an email. I know she’d rather sell it all at once, but that might be tough.
What a sad story, but a nice collection. If I was still collecting I’d definitely try to acquire some of those pieces. I love that vintage carded Emperor. A lot of the other stuff I pretty much already have boxed up in a storage shed. I couldn’t justify buying any more.
I sure wish her luck.
Yeah, there are lot of nice pieces hidden in there. Paxton, I hope that storage shed of yours is climate and pest controlled! 😉
It is. I need to sell off some of it to pay for storage costs. It’s just sitting there.
Well, if you decide to sell, let me know. I might help you to pay a bill or two. 😉
Wondering if you ever sold these? I am a buyer looking for a collection of this size. Thanks
Sorry, but the collection was sold a while ago.
